Internship Stipend: The hourly pay rate range for this position is $36 - $46
ONSITE: This role requires the Intern to work from our San Jose, California office during the duration of the Internship.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Role Summary:
SiMa.ai is seeking a Robotics Software Intern to support the development and optimization of a robotics software stack running on the SiMa.ai MLSoC platform. This role focuses on enabling Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) to efficiently process sensor data and execute perception, localization, and navigation pipelines.
The intern will work closely with the robotics and AI engineering teams on real-world robotics challenges, including data pipelines, system integration, and validation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing and optimizing robotics software components for deployment on the SiMa.ai chipset.
  • Support data collection, curation, and organization for robotics datasets.
  • Develop scripts and tools (primarily in Python) for automation, data processing, and testing workflows.
  • Participate in system testing, validation, and performance benchmarking.
  • Analyze results and help debug issues across the robotics stack.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including AI, embedded systems, and hardware.
Required Qualifications:
  • Candidates are expected to have recently graduated, or nearing graduation (rising senior) with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience writing scripts for automation, data processing, or testing.
  • Familiarity with Linux environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exposure to robotics concepts such as perception, localization, or navigation.
  • Experience with frameworks such as ROS / ROS2.
  • Familiarity with computer vision or machine learning workflows.
  • Experience working with sensor data or simulation tools.
