Position Summary

The Senior Director, Employee & Executive Communications is responsible for and driving the implementation of F5’s internal communications strategy for a globally distributed workforce. Priorities for this role include developing high-impact communications tied to business priorities and company culture; engaging and inspiring F5ers through powerful storytelling; and facilitating employee awareness and understanding of the company’s strategy, values, and culture through key global events.

The ideal candidate leads collaboratively, is confident advising C-level executives, and can forge cross-functional relationships with F5ers at all levels. This innovative leader will be a part of the Corporate Communications team and will lead a talented team of communicators. The role is based in Seattle and will be part of F5’s hybrid work model. A true love for building and enabling company culture is essential in this role.

The candidate is creative, demonstrates thought leadership, and can transform complex information into stories and messages that resonate with, and inspire, global employees. The Senior Director, Employee & Executive Communications will have meticulous attention to detail and set best-practice standards for global internal communications, with a goal to always raise the bar. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential in communicating F5’s growing business.

Primary Responsibilities:

Supports and grows the company’s culture and business through strategic communications planning, content, and events

  • Leads a unified global employee and executive communications program aligned with F5’s human-first and high-performing culture and behaviors.

  • Executes comprehensive, multi-layered communications plans that support F5’s business objectives and help advance the company strategy.

  • Advises executive leadership for all company announcements, quarterly company meetings and major change and culture moments.

  • Manages employee crisis communications response for global and local issues.

  • Drives change communications to align employees with our business growth efforts.

  • Drives global internal communications best practices.

Leads executive communications, across functions and regions, to create a consistent and connected employee experience

  • Advises executive leadership for all company announcements, quarterly company meetings and major change and culture moments.

  • Identifies opportunities to engage, create clarity, and support culture for executive leaders

Leads employee awareness, understanding, and engagement with our company strategy

  • Partners closely with executive leadership team and business leaders to support employee understanding of long-term company strategy.

  • Consults with business groups to help align internal communications across functions and regions.

  • Leverages employee listening mechanisms to create a data-driven approach to communications.

Directs engaging, creative content for internal communications’ global digital platforms

  • Oversees company intranet and digital signage, including editorial calendar planning.

  • Identifies and advocates for new and innovative tools, including how to use AI in communications workflows. Manages vendors and contractors, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience balancing strategic acumen and leadership gravitas with execution excellence

  • Talent developer and coach for a strong, high-impact teams

  • Excellent research, writing, and editorial skills, including development of original content and the ability to construct concise and well-written narratives

  • Passionate storyteller and culture advocate

  • Expert at demonstrating business impact and balancing multiple stakeholders; exhibits grace under pressure (live events!) and leads by example in delivering engaging employee meetings and events

  • A can-do, roll-up-the-sleeves approach combined with a strong teamwork focus and desire to raise the bar on everything you do

  • Demonstrated success in working with international stakeholders and global cultures

  • A passion for company culture and an advocate for the employee experience in all things

  • Deep experience in organizational change management, crisis communications, and issues management

  • Experience in budget and vendor management

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, or a related discipline

  • 15+ years’ experience in employee and executive communications

The annual base pay for this position is: $230,400.00 - $345,600.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
