Job Description:
- Partner with the Payroll Manager to process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time for all U.S. employees.
- Serve as a backup resource to the Payroll Manager, ensuring continuity of payroll operations in the event of absence or transition.
- Manage multi-state payroll tax filings, including timely remittance and compliance with applicable state and local requirements.
- Review and audit payroll data for accuracy prior to each pay run, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Process payroll adjustments, corrections, off-cycle payments, and manual checks as needed.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and deductions.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with payroll-related reporting, including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close support.
- Support year-end payroll processes including W-2 preparation and filing.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy within the payroll function.
- 2-3 years of hands-on payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state environment.
- Working knowledge of federal and state payroll tax regulations and filing requirements.
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Paylocity, or similar platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Solid understanding of payroll accounting fundamentals, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and work independently in a fully remote environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with data review and reconciliation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with HR, Finance, and employees.
Hiring Range:
The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications and prior experience.
