Role: Accountant

Core Duties

  • Validate and process invoices, applying various compliance requirements including state and federal tax compliance rules.
  • Perform daily oversight of AP transactions from various sources by utilizing financial reports from multiple systems and Oracle ERP.
  • Prioritize and resolve issues and recognize exceptions; perform analysis and recommend solutions in a timely manner.
  • Perform system testing related to process improvements, system upgrades and enhancements, and production support.
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of desktop procedures and process documentation for area of responsibility.
  • Prioritize and resolve Payable issues; probe beyond stated situation; identify underlying issues; recognize exceptions; perform preliminary analysis; escalate broader issues.
  • Partner with the Financial Support Center and other departments or teams to resolve inquiries and transactions within the defined SLA.
  • Train, coach, and participate in educational presentations to campus, as needed.
  • Understand and participate in cross training on core functions in work area or unit; serve as a back-up to other functions.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or relevant experience in Finance/Accounting desired, plus two years of applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite and Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial systems, internet, and computer literacy.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts.
  • Full-cycle accounts payable experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups.
  • Ability to learn project management skills and to participate as part of a project team.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to contribute as part of a project team.
