We are seeking a Staff Engineer to drive features, design, and delivery for highly reliable, scalable distributed systems at Cohesity. This role requires technical expertise, strong judgement and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams across multiple teams while remaining hands-on with complex technical problems. You will own critical subsystems and platform capabilities that directly impact product scalability, operability, and customer experience across on-prem deployments.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME HERE

• Work as an individual contributor along with providing technical leadership and vision for key functional areas and across products integration

• Drive full software development lifecycle - requirements analysis, design, coding, debugging and bug fixing

• Collaborate with the dev/QE managers and PM to firm up the priorities and technical roadmap for the product and across wider group

• Demonstrate passion for quality, innovative approach to solving problems and customer-first attitude is required

• Should be able to influence critical technical decisions of project teams

• Provide guidance and direction to junior team members technically. Coaching and mentoring skills

• Recognizing problem areas and implementing innovative solutions

• Understanding customer requirements and converting them into POCs or product features as deemed appropriate

WE’D LOVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU HAVE MANY OF THE FOLLOWING

• 12+ Years of experience in product-based companies for enterprise products

• Proven experience leading development of distributed, fault tolerant, highly available systems, networking and storage systems

• Hands-on experience of design of complex product features or solutions

• Experience in designing products or parts of a big complex distributed system

• Experience working with architects, Product managers & customers for field issues

• Experience in mentoring junior engineers on system design, debugging techniques, and engineering best practices

• Development experience in products related to enterprise class data protection

• In depth knowledge of Agile methodology

• Influencer and a go getter

Technical Skills:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field of study

• Excellent programming skills in go/C++, Ansible/Python on Linux

• Sound knowledge of container technology or cloud/virtualization

• Raise the bar for code quality, testing, observability, and operational excellence

• Strong development experience with RESTful APIs, Object oriented design and multi-threaded application development

• Clustering, File systems, storage management knowledge is a plus.

• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and support high-quality decision-making
