About Chemify
We’re not doing chemistry the old way. And we’re not building our company the old way either.
Chemify is revolutionising chemistry by bringing together AI, robotics and science to make the synthesis of previously unimaginable molecules, drugs and materials instantly accessible.
We’re an ambitious, curious and fast-growing team, made up of scientists, engineers, robotics experts and business specialists. Everyone brings something different to the table, but we’re united by a desire to solve difficult problems and build something that matters.
As we grow, our people and culture are becoming increasingly important. We want to build an environment where talented people can do their best work, where colleagues feel supported, and where our ways of working evolve alongside the business.
That’s where our People team comes in.
The Role
We’re looking for a People Assistant to join our small, friendly HR team.
This could be a great next step for someone with around 9 months to 2 years of HR experience who wants to get involved in much more than traditional HR administration.
You’ll have the chance to get involved across the full range of HR activity — from supporting colleagues through our HR inbox and keeping our HRIS in great shape, to supporting recruitment, analysing people data, helping with employee relations and getting involved in exciting projects such as workplace transformation.
You’ll work across both our HR and Talent Acquisition functions, giving you exposure to a broad range of People operations. If you enjoy variety and learning new things, you’ll fit right in.
What you'll be doing
Keeping HR running smoothly
- Preparing and issuing HR documentation, including letters relating to changes in employment.
- Processing employee changes accurately and efficiently.
- Monitoring the compliance training platform and following up on outstanding training.
- Supporting onboarding and leaver processes.
- Liaising with payroll and other teams to make sure employee changes are processed smoothly.
- Supporting HR compliance and keeping key processes on track.
- Handling confidential employee information with care and discretion.
Being there for our colleagues
- Taking ownership of the HR mailbox by responding to day-to-day HR queries in a friendly, helpful and timely way.
- Signposting people to relevant policies, guidance and resources.
Making our HR data work for us
- Taking ownership of our HRIS and keeping employee information accurate and up to date.
- Carrying out regular data checks and resolving discrepancies.
- Producing HR reports for different business needs and turning data into useful insights.
- Helping us improve the way we use our HR systems and data.
Supporting our people processes
You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved behind the scenes in some of the more complex areas of HR.
- Providing administrative support for employee relations cases.
- Coordinating meetings and maintaining accurate case documentation.
- Supporting ER activity and follow-up actions.
Helping us find great people
You’ll work closely with our Talent Acquisition team to help create a great experience for candidates and hiring teams.
- Reviewing CVs and applications.
- Scheduling and coordinating interviews.
- Liaising with candidates throughout the recruitment process.
- Supporting recruitment administration and pre-employment checks.
Getting involved in what's next
We’re growing and changing, so there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in things outside the day-to-day.
- Supporting HR projects and initiatives, including workplace transformation.
- Supporting employee communications and new initiatives.
- Bringing your own ideas about how we can do things better.
About You
You don’t need to have seen it all just yet. What matters most to us is that you’re curious, keen to learn and excited to grow your HR experience as part of the team.
You’ll probably have:
- Around 9 months to 2 years of HR experience, perhaps as an HR Administrator, HR Assistant, People Assistant, People Coordinator or similar.
- A good understanding of basic HR processes and the employee lifecycle.
- Great organisational skills and the ability to keep on top of multiple things at once.
- A sharp eye for detail — particularly when it comes to people data and documentation.
- Strong communication skills and a naturally approachable style.
- A genuine interest in helping people.
- Confidence communicating with colleagues at different levels.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Some experience with an HRIS or HR systems.
- The ability to handle confidential information thoughtfully and professionally.
- A proactive mindset — you see something that could be better and you're inclined to do something about it.
Why Chemify?
You’ll be joining People Ops at a pretty exciting time.
Chemify is growing quickly, and that means there’s a real opportunity to help shape how we work as we scale. You won’t be joining a huge HR machine where everything has already been decided — you’ll have a voice.
You’ll work in a small, supportive team where you can learn from experienced HR colleagues, take ownership of your own work and get exposure to a genuinely broad range of HR.
You’ll also get to work alongside some incredibly innovative people doing things that haven’t been done before — and play your own part in helping create the environment that allows them to do it.
If you’re early in your HR career, want to learn fast and like the idea of helping build something rather than simply maintaining something that already exists — we’d love to hear from you!
Please note, there is a requirement to participate in a 1/6 on-call rota for this position as we support a 7-day Operation.
