Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Help redefine how we ship configurations to any workload within Canva.
• Lead the effort in building and enhancing our configuration infrastructure.
• Codify and share technical knowledge through documentation and presentations
• Providing technical expertise by identifying knowledge gaps and lifting team capabilities
• Help other software engineers along your way, we are only as good as we are a team

You're probably a match if:

• You have strong experience with the Golang. Rust is a nice-to-have, but coding interviews will be run in Golang or Python.
• You have a strong understanding of APIs, integrations, and developer tooling
• You have familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and the overall SDLC
• You have the ability to implement solutions from technical specifications and collaborate effectively with other engineers
• You have strong communication skills and the ability to document technical work clearly

About the Team

The Configuration team is relatively new, having been formed at the end of 2025. The team has already been working hard to achieve some key infrastructure and company goals, and we have developed a vision to enhance how we deliver configuration changes across Canva in a fast and safe manner.

As a senior software engineer on the Configuration team, you'll be tasked with building the next generation of configuration tooling and delivery, shaping how every Canvanaut uses configuration across the company. You'll work closely with other engineers in the team and cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that enhance our configuration infrastructure, enabling seamless integration and delivery of configurations across all workloads at Canva.

Our mission is to empower everyone in Canva to configure anything and distribute it anywhere. We envision a future where our work forms the foundation of every technical endeavor at Canva.
